Background:
In the summer of 2005, Ryan Edwards had the ambition of creating a scholarship
program to support athletes
of the Mesa State Cycling Team. He and the coaching staff of the team
approached Rocky Mountain Orthopaedic Associates, P.C., of Grand Junction, CO
which became the sole supporter of the program and
generously provided all the necessary funding. Ryan worked to create such a
fund with the hope that it would help students offset the high cost of
education, allow students further financial freedom while training and racing, and
to raise awareness of Mesa State College Cycling and collegiate cycling in
general. Rocky Mountain Orthopaedic Associates (RMOA) is committed to providing superior care
for patients with bone, joint and muscular injuries and agreed to participate
because these scholarship funds promote excellence in educational and athletic
goals.
